Solution Use-Cases Project

Project details

This project was spurred by the need to present use-cases to potential B2B clients across industries in time for Workday’s large Rising event.

The Problem

There is currently no way for users to compare use-cases for their specific industry, creating friction in discovery and limiting cross-industry exploration.

Goal

Create a Canvas Design System component that allows users to browse industry-specific use cases and navigate efficiently to drive engagement and increase sales opportunities.

My Role

Senior Product Designer. I defined the interaction model, information architecture, and overall experience in partnership with product and engineering.

Approach

We evaluated how customers currently discover solutions and where the experience was falling short.

 

• Audited the existing industry pages and navigation patterns

• Reviewed competitor approaches to use-case discovery

• Identified friction in cross-industry exploration

• Prioritized a scalable component solution within Canvas

 

The focus was to make exploration intuitive while keeping the experience scalable and author-friendly.

Key Constraints

Several factors shaped the final solution:

 

• Needed to support a wide range of industries and content types

• Had to work within Canvas design system standards

• Required strong authoring flexibility

• Needed to perform efficiently across breakpoints

 

These constraints required a flexible but structured component model.

Initial Research

We looked at multiple competitor options for a feature similar to what we were exploring and analyzed modern B2B browsing patterns.

What We Achieved

The new component significantly improved discoverability and cross-industry exploration.

 

• Users can now view hundreds of use cases across 14+ industries

• Navigation is faster and easier to understand

• Encourages deeper product exploration

• Creates new upsell and cross-sell opportunities

• Reduced industry page bounce rate

Conclusion

After development, stakeholders quickly adopted the component and began using it to elevate the quality and effectiveness of Workday marketing experiences.
